1) Spending a whole summer exploring conservation, environmental and Native American justice, and issues of equity and inclusion seemed once in a lifetime. Plus, I never imagined being in the Southwest, and I wanted to challenge myself to experience a ‘whole new world’. Lastly, I wanted to connect with, learn from, and grow with other leaders and students from all over the country in our respective journeys!
2) Often, I feel that the AAPI voice is extremely underrepresented in the conservation and environmental justice movement. I see myself advocating for AAPI, low-income, and immigrant communities and connecting their concerns with the environmental movement. I want to ensure these narratives and voices are woven throughout conservation in order to truly empower these communities.
